Travel Agent Central foresees big changes for Antarctica cruises

As stated in a recent article on Travel Agent Central about Antarctica travel, "While there are countless reasons why Antarctica deserves to be on every intrepid traveler’s wish list, starting this August, only ships carrying fewer than 500 passengers will be headed that way... Intended to cut down on oil consumption and pollution, the ban will also keep Antarctica from becoming another overrun port of call. Some predict the change will reduce the number of annual visitors from 33,000 to 24,000."

The article continues on to recommend travel to Antarctica on our expedition cruise ship, the MV Antarctic Dream. Originally commissioned for the Chilean Navy, the Antarctic Dream was refurbished in 2002 with 40 double cabins to accommodate up to 80 passengers. "With a strengthened hull for polar navigation, the small expedition cruise ship is well fitted to handle the Drake Passage’s notorious rough seas and Antarctica’s unpredictable conditions" said the experts at Travel Agent Central. "True to its name, this small ship is big on comfort, camaraderie and epic sightseeing."

Here at Antarctic Dream, our mission is to create and offer the most memorable and adventurous experience of a lifetime in one of the last remaining under-explored places in our world. The small size of our ship allows our passengers to get much closer to the shore for better wildlife viewing. We provide our guests the security and comfort of our vessel, the professional guidance of its experienced crew and a welcoming and friendly environment – taking into account our permanent respect for nature.

On January 6, 2012, we will be extending our classic 11 day/10 night Antarctic expedition on one special excursion to include travel inside the Antarctic Circle. The M/V Antarctic Dream will depart on a 14 day/13 night itinerary that ventures much farther south than our usual course, taking passengers to places rarely seen by human beings. This one-time only extended journey departs from Ushuaia, Argentina and is being offered at the same price as our classic 11-day itinerary.

Sailing on board the Antarctic Dream will be an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Call 1-877-AD TRIPS (238-7477) or visit our website to book your tour today.
